Harvest is not far away

With harvest now less that a week away it has been a busy few weeks on the farm, firstly with the arrival of our 7 harvest students set to cleaning grain stores and checking over trailers and tractors ready for the big go.

The most exciting part is the new arrivals on the farm to help with harvest being a new 18T Richard Western trailer making it the 5th one to join the fleet, also a new Fendt 724 to put on the front of it, but the main one of all is a New Holland CR9090 with 35FT va...

Break in weather at last

A break in the weather in recent weeks has given us a chance to catch up on field work.

We have pulled down our wintered ploughing for our spring beans to be drilled and the pre-ems to be applied just in time for a good shower to get them growing.

Avadex has been applied to the spring bean seedbeds fields with black grass issues

With the drill now back in the shed until Wheat drilling in the autumn we have got the sprayers out and are applying T0 fungicide to the W...

Weather won't stop work at R P&J Gaymer

Most contractors would simply wait until it dried up or make a mess, with the deadline for hedge cutting fast approaching we decided enough was enough and when a customer asks us to do a job we have a duty to provide that service on time. The decision was taken to lay rubber track matting down on grass verges to enable us to carry on hedge cutting without even a footprint being left. Here are some pictures of our new hedge cutter in action.
